Overflow is the second hour contemporary service in the main Sanctuary on the west campus. The service features a worship style that resembles the music of Hillsong or North Point. The worship ministry of Overflow exists to bring God glory using art and creative communication with excellence in expressing His character, inspiring those who trust in Him, and revealing His love to those who have yet to enter into a relationship with Him.
We want to enable our congregation at Overflow to be fully aware and active participants in joyful worship of God in spirit and truth. We are here to bring God glory in all that we do whether it be through song, speech, or attitude.
“We all, with unveiled faces, are reflecting the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.” - 2 Corinthians. 3:18
Worship is our personal and corporate response to God, in spirit and in truth, for who He is and what He has done. It is expressed by what we say, sing, and the way we live. We do not believe that singing praise to God in a church service is, in of itself, worship. However, we do believe that singing and praising God is a command to all – (Psalm 66:1-2) – and is a powerful way to respond to our God and King. Whether our music is loud or soft, fast or slow, new or old, with a full band band or without, it matters little in comparison to the message of the song. Therefore it is very important to us that our songs be based on Scripture. Though we believe our enjoyment of God brings Him glory, praise is not ultimately about what we want, need, desire, or prefer. Worship is an end in itself. We don’t worship to raise money, attract crowds, or improve church morale. Should we worship for these reasons, then it ceases to be worship. He alone is our satisfaction.
To be a part of the worship/creative arts team at Overflow is to partner with a group of people committed to Christ personally and committed to seeing God glorified in all things. It is also to partner with a group of people dedicated to using the gifts, talents, knowledge, and bents He has given them to bring honor to His name. To be a part of this team is to enter into a leadership position of ministry within the church and a commitment to adhere to the expectations of that position.
If you are interested in the worship/creative arts ministry please fill the application on the right and someone from our staff will contact you about your next step.
